Yellow tube sponge
This beautiful yellow tube sponge would make a wonderful addition to the zoo's Coral Reef exhibit. This sponge is harmless because it is attached to the ground and it doesn't consume other fish. Because of the sponge’s bright, yellow color, it would definitely draw people towards it. Yellow Tube Sponges are also easy to care for and maintain because they filter feed. The sponge could easily be put into a tank that already has fish and other sponges or coral in it.
Sponges can adapt quickly to any water temperature however, keeping your tank at a room temperature is suggested. This sponge is shaped like a long, hollow yellow tube (hence the name Yellow Tube sponge). This sponge can grow as tall as 3 feet and can be found in the Caribbean, Florida, and the Gulf of Mexico. Yellow Tube sponges are filter feeders, meaning they extract whatever plankton, bacteria, or dead organic material they can find from the water.
