invertebrate exhibits
To the left is a picture of the invertebrate aquariums designed by Brenden Renkel. The tank on the very left of the picture is constructed for the Sunflower Sea-Star. This 200 gal. tank needs a great filtration system, thermometer, and a hydrometer. It should also be filled with sand and rock/coral decor. The average price for this tank including the items above is about $1,500. This includes food cost per year.
The smallest tank is for the Atlantic Pygmy Octopus and can also be copied for the Pink Planarian. The Atlantic Pygmy tank should be about 20 gal. The Pygmy requires a filtration system and low-watt lights. The bottom of the tank should be filled with substrate and rock/coral decor. Average pricing for the tank and objects for the tank is about $430 including food price per year. The Pink Planarian tank has the same plan as the octopi's tank except for the fact it's slightly smaller being 5 gallons instead of 20 gallons. The worm's tank simply needs to be filled with moss/log, and rock decor. The average cost for this tank and the little items it needs is about $240 including food cost per year. On the far right of the image, you see a cylindrical tank designed for the Purple Striped Jellyfish. This is a scaled down version of a 100 gallon tank. The tank needs a hydrometer and a thermometer, and substrate sitting on the bottom. No other decoration is required. The average pricing for this tank and the items is about $800. This includes yearly cost for food. Below the exhibit picture is a picture of the Blank Park Zoo map. The Yellow Sea Sponge can be incorporated into an aquarium in the Coral Reef area. The Atlantic Pygmy Octopi's and the Purple Striped Jellyfish's tanks should be located here as well. The Pacific Coast area would be a great place to put the Sunflower Sea-Star. Lastly, the Electric Blue Crayfish can be put into a tank with other fish in the Water Lab. The Pink Planarian's tank can go in this area as well. |
